Weekly & Bi-Weekly Spelling Sessions

For families seeking the most impactful and supportive approach, weekly or bi-weekly spelling sessions are strongly recommended. This model offers consistent guidance for both you and your speller, encourages regular home practice, and provides ongoing access to your trained provider. It is especially well-suited for families new to spelling or for spellers in the skill-acquisition phase of their journey.

Weekly and bi-weekly spelling sessions can be conducted as:

  • Clinic sessions (In-office sessions located in Carlsbad, CA)

  • In-home sessions (Available to families in the greater San Diego region)

  • Virtual sessions (Live coaching over Zoom as you spell with your child at home)

Weekly and bi-weekly spelling sessions are 45 minutes long, and always include parent coaching.

Intensives

For families outside the San Diego area who do not have access to a local provider, intensives are an excellent option. Come to San Diego for focused spelling support, and enjoy the area while you’re here!

What makes an intensive different?

  • You travel to San Diego for 1–3 days of focused spelling support.

  • Two spelling sessions are held each day, with a break in between for your speller to rest, eat, move their body, and regulate between sessions.

  • There is a strong emphasis on parent coaching. Because our time together is concentrated, your provider focuses on equipping you as your child’s primary Communication Partner (CP). You’ll receive hands-on coaching to build confidence and competence on the boards—skills that carry forward long after the intensive ends.

  • You receive a written summary report outlining focus areas and individualized recommendations for home practice.

Outreaches

If you live outside the San Diego area, do not have access to a local provider, and are unable to travel to San Diego for sessions, we can come to you!

What’s different about an outreach?

  • The provider travels to you for 2-4 days of focused, in-home spelling support.

  • Two spelling sessions are held each day, with a break in between.

  • Similar to an intensive, this model places extra emphasis on parent coaching. After working directly with your child to strengthen their spelling and communication skills, the provider will shift their focus to coaching you on the boards. The goal is to identify where your speller currently needs support, build targeted skills, and equip you with clear next steps—so that you feel confident implementing recommendations at home long after the outreach is complete.

  • Outreaches also include a written summary report to provide you with clear focus areas, recommendations, and strategies for practicing at home after the outreach is complete.
